Sinus vein thrombosis and epileptic seizures: outcomes of long term follow-up

Purpose: In the acute phase of Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis (CVST), approximately 35-50 % patients diagnosed epileptic seizures. This study aimed to investigate demographic and clinical characteristics, frequency seizures, prognosis during a one-year follow-up period.
 Materials Methods: The files who were followed up with diagnosis ischemic stroke between January 1, 2018 2022 evaluated in this retrospective study. Demographic features, presence seizure history frequency, neuroimaging findings, affected cerebral venous sinuses, anti-seizure medication use recorded.
 Results: A total 701 had their medical records reviewed. Thirty-two (4.56 %) CVST; 37.5 experienced early-onset Seizure control was achieved monotherapy 88.8 (n:8) Involved sinuses seizures; 50 (n=6) superior sagittal sinus most commonly involved inferior rectus not involved. terms involvement, there no statistically significant difference without On magnetic resonance imaging, infarcts detected 66.7 (n=8) compared 35 seizures.
 Conclusion: revealed that seizures typically occur early disease, have favorable over long term, can be managed monotherapy.
